Chinese government jails Six protesters
The Chinese government imprisons six protesters were led to violent protests related in Guangdong Province. The court there sentenced nine months to three and a half years.
According to AP and AFP on Tuesday (07/12/2011), thousands of migrant workers protested for several days in the area industrik clothes near the city of Guangzhou. They threw stones at police, burning vehicles, and looting of government buildings after clashes between hawkers and security guards.
However, traders who are pregnant reportedly pushed to the ground by the officer who ordered the removal of his stall.
But the workers, mostly from Sichuan province, then against the government. Those who have long expressed dissatisfaction about the perceived corruption and abuse of power.
Migrant workers are often underpaid. Meanwhile, China's tight control of the migrants in the country to make them do not have the same rights as urban residents where they work.
Li Zhinghuang defendant sentenced imprisonment of three and a half years for damaging three police vehicles, state media reported China Daily.
He was convicted of creating chaos and damage as citations to court documents. Four others convicted of similar offenses. "All of the defendants confessed to the crime and pleaded guilty in court," wrote the document.
Local police last week said that 11 people allegedly involved in the riots and has been indicted. Some officials, including city officials also dismissed, state media reported.
Garment industry is growing rapidly in Zengcheng. Population of the place, amounting to 800,000 people surged in recent years due to the arrival of thousands of migrant workers.
The violence is one of a number of riots that occurred in several places in China that triggered complaints of injustice and corruption.
